Earthworks during the extension of Anderson Park, Wellington, photographed 6 September 1936 by an unidentified photographer for the Evening Post.
Note by Walter Cook on back of file print reads: "Anderson Park extension. Work on Anderson Park extension was carried out between Decmeber 1931 and May 1934 as a Government employment relief scheme operated through the Wellington City Council. The work also involved laying extensive storm water drains through Anderson Park and under Sydney Street. The cost of this operation was £12,631. The extension was first used as a sports ground, and is now the site of the Lady Norwood Rose Garden and Begonia House. Photograph taken looking west towards the ridge being demolished in order to fill the gully."
