A base map of the nomenclature of the northern slopes of Mt. Ruapehu has been used to give the position of existing and proposed huts. Existing huts are marked in green and named as Salt Hut, Aorangi Hut, R.S.C. Hut, Glacier Hut. Proposed huts are marked in red and named as Tongariro Hut, R.S.C. Memorial Hut, A.S.C. Hut, while Otaihare Hut has been crossed through. Sites of other huts are marked in black ink and named as Alpine Hut, T.T.C. site, Otaihape Hut, A.S.C. Hut and M.T.C. Hut. A reference key states 'Wanganui above R.S.C., Puketoi below Tongaririo, Levin Waiohehu near A.S.C'.
