Shows hillside wooded most of the way up. In foreground is green vegetation including fronds of tree-fern.
Probably painted around the end of the 1860s. The artist is known to have been in the vicinity after the wreck of the ketch (probably the "Crest") in 1868 - his picture of Akaroa Heads is dated 1869.
