Sir John Logan Campbell (left), and his daughter Winifred, in the music room of Kilbryde, Campbell's newly-completed home in Parnell Auckland. Some of the fresco paintings of Swiss and Italian scenes (probably by Kennett Watkins) which adorned this room may be seen in the background. Photograph taken, probably between 1881 and 1884, by an unknown photographer.
John Logan Campbell, his wife Emma and his daughter Winifred returned from Europe to live in the newly completed Kilbryde on 24 May 1881. Winifred returned to Europe in early 1884. She returned to Auckland for a six week period in early 1889. The photograph is more likely to have been taken in the earlier period.
