Description

The essay chronicles the activities of the Washbourne family from England in 1259 to New Zealand from 1850 to 1950. The families of some wives have been mentioned where their inclusion is relevant. Farming in the Canterbury region is the main focus of the family's activities although brief mention is made of two North Island farms. The diaries of J Maddison and Fanny Washbourne, quoted in the narrative, are still in existence and in the possession of Ronald Washbourne
