A portrait of the Moriori chief Tapu Hirawana Maitarawai and his wife Rohana, taken in 1891 by an unknown photographer. They are standing at the door of a wooden house with a thatched roof.

Physical Description: Toned gelatin silver print 10.3 x 7.4 cm

Provenance: Photograph previously in the possession of the Jaques family of Te Ore Ore, Masterton. It is thought to have been sent to them by a friend who was a teacher on the Chatham Islands, ca World War 1.
