- Description
This diary contains a detailed account of McLean's expedition into the territory of the Maori King, Tawhaio, in November 1869. Although he did not meet with Tawhiao he travelled to Otorohanga and spoke there at a meeting of Waikato and Ngati Maniapoto leaders, including Rewi Maniapoto. Louis Hetet was part of his party and McLean comments favourably on his influence.
