Aerial view of Meremere Steam Power Project. Shows the site cleared for development, and the main plant building under construction. The first of the six chimneys is beginning to take its final shape. The excavation for the coal storage area shows at left. Rows of houses are visible in the distance. Source of descriptive information - Caption on back of original file print reads: "Aerial view of Meremere Steam Power Project. In view of Meremere (180,000 kw) steam station the first of the six chimneys is beginning to take its final shape. The excavation for the coal storage area shows at left. The first 30,000 kw unit should be commissioned next month (July)."
