Carte de visite portrait of a Maori man from Hawkes Bay, taken, probably in the 1870s, by Samuel Carnell of Napier.
Date assigned on the basis that Carnell used the wet collodion process early in his career.
An original carte de visite print from this negative is at PA2-0432.
This is possibly Erueti Okokorau, chief taken prisoner at Pakake, Hawkes Bay, to Waikato.
