Description

Cartoon shows Prime Minister Norman Kirk, holding an axe labelled NZRFU; it had proved ineffective in demolishing the bridge for white people to South Africa at the left, finally blown up using an explosive. The "N Kirk, bridge demolition" van is parked at the right.

Implies that there was a need for government intervention when the Rugby Union could not or would not call off the rugby tour of its own accord.
