Description

Copy, by E G Smith, of a original postcard taken circa 1930s by an unidentified photographer showing Jacob Grimm School, a girls' school at Rotenburg, Germany, which housed German prisoner of war camp Oflag 9A/Z, during World War II.

The left half of the building was occupied by German troops, the right half by British prisoners of war. (Information from back of file print) The camp, which opened in August 1939, housed Polish, then Belgian and finally Allied POWs. (Details from client)
