Description

Contains the proceedings of Native committees and the Maori Land Court with regard to land in the South Wairarapa with details of land ownership, mahinga kai, history of the blocks and the related hapu, rentals and land use

Also contains cosmological notes, with an account of Tangaroa and Rua-te-pupuke and the origins of carving, an account of Maui, an account of Uenuku and Ruawharo at Hawaiki which includes karakia associated with the Takitimu canoe; notes about the boundaries of land blocks in the Wairarapa with notes about occupant hapu and mahinga kai; waiata, whakapapa and a list of conflicts involving Wairarapa people over a number of generations
