Description

Four head and shoulder portraits of Maori. The top two are from Cook's voyages, the left after Sydney Parkinson, the right after William Hodges. The lower two, a woman and a man, are after Piron's drawings of a man and woman of Northland from J J Labillardiere, Atlas du voyage, Paris, 1800, pl 25. All four date from the 18th century

A French language edition of the same volumes was published in Milan, in 1827, with a reversed version of this and other illustrations.
