Corner of Wellesley and Queen Streets, Auckland (possibly after the fire of 1865, or after the fire of 1873) showing the United Service Hotel and the premises of Anton Seuffert, cabinet maker. Photograph possibly taken by The Clarke Brothers.
Terence Hodgson, in his book 'The Heart of Colonial Auckland, 1865-1910', 1992, page 10, suggests this image was taken by the Clarke Brothers after the fire of 1873. He identifies the building centre left as 'the market-place', designed by the city surveyor, William Anderson, and built in 1872.
