A view from across the river towards a steep hill, crowned with the Alexandra Redoubt. Six Maori canoes are on the river and a raupo hut is in the right foreground. A tree frames the view on the left. A small hut and figures can be seen on the opposite bank. The fort itself has several buildings within low walls, and a flagpole with flag flying
