Published in the Evening Post newspaper, 11 October, page 32 with the title "No Apartheid in Petone", and the caption: "Petone's new Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs Ralph Love, against a panorama, from their Korokoro home, of the borough of which they are now first citizens. Petone showed the essence of democracy at the polls - a Maori Mayor, a Chinese councillor at the top of the poll, and a Maori, Mr Love's son, Ralph, second in the poll..."
