Freezing workers with sheep carcasses at the freezing works at Whakatu, Hastings district. Tom Cunningham is the Maori man sixth from right (in striped singlet). Behind him is John (Jack) Palmer (the shorter man, fourth in line from the right of frame). Photograph taken between 1919 and circa 1921 by Henry Norford Whitehead.
