Shows a Maori pa beside the mouth of the Pahaoa river on the south-east Wairarapa coast, looking inland; palisades and houses are clearly visible. Driftwood is piled up on the beach in the foreground and there are rock formations in the sand on the opposite bank with hills in the background.
