Looking south over the railway yards in Thorndon, Wellington, circa 1920s. Dalgety's Stores and the Loan & Mercantile Stores are visible. The Thorndon to Kaiwarra (Kaiwharawhara) trackless tram (trolley motor bus) is parked outside the Wellington Corporation Tramways tram barn in foreground. The first Wellington trolley bus route opened in 1924, extending the Wellington Corporation Tramways network just over a kilometre along Hutt Road to Kaiwharawhara. There was one trackless tram which had an Auckland built DSC & Cousins body on an AEC chassis (see IPENZ 'Wellington Trolley Buses 1924-1932, and 1949 to date').
