Description

Tasman's ships the Heemskerck and the Zeehaen moored at Tongatapu in January 1643, with details of a Tonga double canoe, a fishing vessel, small canoes coming to the ships, Tongans swimming to the ships, and palm trees and other vegetation on land in the background. The hand-colouring is applied only to the Dutch flags on the two ships
