Description

View looking north along Lambton Quay, toward the Wairarapa Farmers Co-operative building. Business premises shown include Rees-Jones' shoe shop and the D I C building on the right and Hannah's shoe shop on the left. The street is busy with pedestrians, cars and trams. Taken from the balcony of the Hotel Trocadero by an unidentified photographer in 1940.

Note on back of file print reads: Looking towards the Wairarapa Farmers building from the corner of Lambton Quay and Grey Street, 1940. Rees-Jones shoe shop on the corner on the right, DIC building in the right background, and Hannah's shoe store on the left. No 2 saloon-type tram bound for Railway Station and similar type outside DIC in distance in Lambton Quay.
