Photograph of the Bank of New South Wales on Lambton Quay taken in 1902. Signs on the right portion of the building advertise the business of A J McTavish and Co, land agent, and the Metropolita[n?] School of Shorthand. Whitcombe & Tombs is on the right. Houses on the Terrace are in the background. Photographer unidentified.
This building was built in 1863 as the Wellington Supreme Court. It was sold to the Bank of New South Wales in 1882. (Information from Evening Post 13 June 1936, page 17). It was demolished in 1904 (Information from "Colonial Capital" by T Hodgson).
