- Description
The New Zealand High Commissioner, Sir Guy Richardson Powles, meets a group of Samoan men on his return to Samoa in September or November 1949. The Samoans are wearing traditional dress, including tapa cloth sarongs and lei. The High Commissioner is wearing military uniform, and is accompanied by a Samoan fautua. The two parties are shaking hands and smiling. Photograph taken by Mr W Walker.
Other - Caption on back of original file print reads: "The High Commissioner meets Samoans on return to Apia. In this photograph the air of cordiality which accompanies these functions is clearly shown."
