Letters to McLean from Maori with regard to land tenure in Hawke's Bay and Taranaki; there are also letters about the fighting between Maori and Government forces, including a report on a meeting with Tawhiao, a letter from Gore-Browne recalling previous good relations between Waikato and the Government, and planned attacks on Hauhau supporters
