Children's sand castle competition, organised by the 5000 club, at a Mount Maunganui beach in January 1949. Shows children making their castles, and adults looking on. Photograph taken by W Walker for the National Publicity Studios.
Caption on back of file print reads: "The 5000 Club organised the competition and some 80 children participated. Contestants could use anything found on the beach. They were given 60 mins to complete, and valuable prizes were awarded the winners. Winning design, see A10,636."
