Description: Letter book of W H Grace (1880-1892) relating to business and Maori land matters, domestic items and accounts paid or due and include letters to Joshua Jones. Also letters in Maori including to Paraihe, Te Mete and others from Rewi Maniapoto. Many addressees are difficult to decipher. Gabriel Elliott has inscribed the letter book with a certification that it was the official letter book of Grace and annotated it in various places. He also started an index but only for the first 100 pages. The last 150 leaves had been water damaged and now are repaired. Original remains very fragile. Description: Diary kept by W H Grace mostly recording matters relating to land and especially noting letters written and includes noting the letters he wrote for Rewi Maniapoto; the entry for 14 March has a stamp inscribed `Rewi Maniapoto Te Kuiti, 14 March 1882'. Another stamp on the inside front cover is for Tawhiao. The volume has been annotated by Gabriel Elliott. Few personal matters are recorded.
