Description

Dutch towns showing views of markets, market stalls, street scenes, lacemakers, women and ships on canals. There is also a photograph of Frances Hodgkins and her fellow artists taken on their visit to Holland. This album may contain Hodgkins' own photographs.

This visit to Holland was in the summer of 1903. Some of the places visited were the village of Rijsoord near Rotterdam, and Delft. Prior to going to Holland Frances Hodgkins had joined Norman Garstin's group in Bruges, Belgium, so that some of the prints in this album may have been taken at that time. (Info from "A Portrait of Frances Hodgkins," E H McCormick, Auckland University Press, 1990, p49).

In February 1902 Hodgkins bought herself a Kodak camera
