Description

Looking up a rocky hillside from below, with Mediterranean buildings, stone walls, paths, palm trees, agaves, a pruned grape vine (suggesting early springtime), an olive, an orange tree and a lemon tree, geraniums spilling over walls and window-boxes, two cats, doves, hens, and rabbits

P. 22, catalogue number MT30 in Margaret Taylor's catalogue of the collection (handwritten copy held with the collection)

Inscriptions: According to the brief descriptive catalogue for this collection, an attached flap was inscribed South of France, 1947 or 48. Since matting for exhibtion, this flap has either been removed or has been tucked in behind the support, which is attached all round to the backing board
