New arrivals, Third New Zealand General Hospital, Bari, Italy, after World War 2. Photograph taken by C Hayden between 17-18 September 1945.
Caption on back of file print reads: "The hospital cinema acts as a reception room for stretcher cases just arrived at 3NZGH, Bari. Here the men are sorted into groups according to whether their complaints are surgical or medical; linen, eating utensils etc are issued and ward allotted to the patient. He is quickly handled and transferred to his ward bed."
