Description

"Te Wharehou", homestead of Apirana Ngata, with surrounding hill and paddocks, photographed by W Walker for the National Publicity Studios in January 1951, after Ngata's death. Looks over paddocks towards a hill, showing a one storied wooden house with a verandah, and a cottage alongside.

National Publicity Studios caption reads: "Homestead of the late Sir Apirana Ngata - a treasure house of Maori relics, Waimatatini, thirteen miles east of Ruatoria, East Coast, Auckland Province."
