View of Port Chalmers looking towards the wharves. There are several steamships berthed, including a smaller steamship, centre left, identified as the Gale. The business premises of John Mill & Company Ltd (Stevedores) are visible centre right. Photographed by Albert Percy Godber circa 1926.
An original print from this negative is in Godber Album Vol 109, p 244 (PA1-q-102) with the inscription "Wharves. Port Chalmers". Godber identifies the small steamer in the left foreground as the S S Calm, but the name on the ship is "Gale".
