Description

Shows a group of boys on a rugby field. One of them is being sent off the field by the referee while the supporters watch from the side lines. The referee is also addressing the boys father and telling him off for promising his son 50 cents if he scored a try. Refers to the Rugby Union and it's policy on payments of money to players.

Exhibited in 'Guts and Glory' an exhibition of rugby cartoons, organised by the New Zealand Cartoon Archive Trust in association with the Alexander Turnbull Library, National Library of New Zealand, at the National Library Gallery, 15 July - 7 November 1999, and then touring until 2001. Curated by Susan Foster.
