Artwork by a British artist, probably in preparation for a poster to advertise New Zealand apples. Shows a Maori woman in traditional costume, seated on the bank of a river or pool. In the foreground are four apples, red and green, and there are fruit-laden branches of an apple tree at top right. The background shows rows of trees in an orchard, with a distant snowy peak under a clouded blue sky.
Sticker on verso attributes the design copyright to Henry Hildesley Ltd, designers and colour printers, of Shacklewell Lane, London E 8. Handwritten pencil note: "2192, Marketing Division". Henry Hildesley Ltd worked with artists to produce posters.
