View looking south along the beach line, with a track in the foreground and a house in the middle distance in front of large trees.

Attributed to W. F. Barraud. However it may be the work of his father C. D. Barraud, whose date of death was the same year as this work was executed (1896).

Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - Kaikoura from West End, Jany 20 96 [in pencil, possibly in the hand of C. D. Barraud); Verso - [stamped CDB - However this stamp was used after the death of Charles Decimus Barraud by his sons.]
