Description: Donald Sutherland in a waka on Lake Ada, photographed, probably in 1889, by Alfred Burton. Identified from PA7-32-15, taken on same occasion. Inscriptions: Photographer's title on negative - bottom left - 1100 1/2 - Laka Ada - Milford Sound This is probably the "planted canoe" on Lake Ada during the 1889 expedition of Walter Burton, Samuel Moreton and others, referred to in Hardwicke Knight's "Burton Brothers", pp47-48.
