Description: A base map of rural lands and small grazing runs for lease in the Tauhara Survey District, on the shores of Lake Taupo, has been used by H. Hill to show his own land and other sections leased by him. Several farm blocks include pencilled monetary values while others are shaded and include positions of buildings. H. Hill's own section has handwritten notes 'Afforested & finish', 69 acres, Sold' and adjacent to this section a note states ' Letter to I. Hislop Oct 23/22 re leasing reserve/thermal sp.'. A handwritten pencilled note states 'George Wall, Waitahanui, Tender for fencing' with several pencilled arithmetical sums. The Taupo - Napier Road continues as hand-drawn lines in ink across farm sections. Several sections are marked as withdrawn. A hand-drawn compass indicates the aspect. A letter mounted on the bottom right of the map is a reply from the Commissioner of Crown Lands, K.M. Graham, to H. Hill about lease of extra land. The base map itself is of sections of lands in the Tauhara Survey District, Auckland Land District No. 1095. Includes references to Native Owners and Crown Land, a thermal springs reserve. An extensive statement on the left side of the map begins with the heading Rural Lands and small-grazing runs for lease, and include the date of 24th. October 1911 at the District Lands Office, Auckland. A schedule of the sections includes the valuations, acreages and rent. Instructions to applicants and a caution follow with the printed name of Eric C. Gold Smith, Commissioner of Crown Lands. Includes an abstract of the conditions of lease. Names listed are: G. Wehringo, Sarah E. Clark, Emma Clark, Annie Clark, H. Hill. The inset locality plan has been cut out and removed from the top right corner. Base map: Lands in Tauhara Survey District. [Wellington, N.Z.], John Mackay, Govt. Printer, [1911] Title taken from reverse of map. '1911 Taupo', 'Taupo leased section', 'Taupo lease sections also own' are written on the reverse.
