View down on George Street, Dunedin. On the opposite side of the street a crowd is queueing in two directions on the footpath under the shop awnings. Three shop signs can be identified. One is Newbolds Bookshop at 394 George Street. The other is Kelvinator House at 388 George Street. Between the two is a sign for Holsum Bread. Three cars can be seen on the street. Photographed by an Evening Star staff photographer in about 1948.
