Carte de visite portrait of Mokena Kohere, Ngati Porou leader, taken, probably in the 1870s, by Samuel Carnell of Napier.
Date assigned on the basis that the wet collodion process was used by Carnell early in his career.

The person depicted in this photograph was identified in the Facial Recognition project results as a likely match to the person depicted in photographs with file names "044 Morgan" and "116 Morgan"in the digitised album at MSDL-2175.
