Description

Shows President of Egypt Anwar Sadat as a stylised profile Egyptian figure, ordering uniformed soldiers to leave, while two smiling Egyptian figures approve of his actions. In the background is a huge pile or pyramid of military weapons, bombs and tanks. The Giza pyramids are shown in the far right distance.

In 1972, Sadat appealed to the Soviet Union to provide Egypt with more offensive weapons to attack Israel. The Soviet Union was more interested in maintaining the appearance of detente with the United States than in confrontation in the Middle East; therefore, it rejected Sadat's demands. Sadat's response was to abruptly expel approximately 20,000 Soviet advisers from Egypt.
