Cabinet card portrait of Paranihia Panapa (left), the wife of Kurupo Tareha, and another Maori woman from the Hawkes Bay district, wearing piupiu, taken, probably in the 1890s, by Samuel Carnell of Napier.
Dated from use of dry plate process and cabinet card format.
Identified by comparison with 1/2-055345-G. 1/2-055344-G was probably taken earlier, as it lacks retouching of the face.
Another photograph taken at the same sitting is at 1/2-055356-G.
