Description

Shows four illustrative panels of the steps taken by a housewife in a frilly polka-dot apron, to clean, wash, iron and dry Lichfield detachable shirt collars. "This quick method applies only to patented Point-Setter collars".

This advertisement may date from as early as 1939, when Lichfield "Point-setter" shirts were advertised in the "Press" newspaper, 15 November 1939, Page 6. The advertisement says: "Buy a Point-Setter coat shirt. Here’s a tonic for your shirt wardrobe, and your bank account as well. ... This Lichfield Shirt with the Point-Setter collar comes in the form-fit design. It slopes with your shoulders, tapers with your arm-—drapes you in at the waist. ...“Point-Setter” spot welded collars mark the greatest improvement that has taken place in collar trade since its inception. Thrifty housewives like them, too, they are easy to wash and iron, and do not require starch". Advertisements for the shirt continued through the early 1940s.
