Contains extensive information about the ownership and administration of the Pouakani Block by Wairarapa Maori, including lists of owners, lists of successors, the election of the managing body, the purchase of livestock and equipment, the dispatch of workers to Pouakani, restrictions on land use and financial management details and regulations
Also contains notes about the marriage of Hemi Te Miha, some biographical notes about Wi Parata, notes about the sale of large land blocks in Wairarapa including the boundaries of land sold, sale prices, number of sellers, reserves and other benefits promised; also contains whakapapa and waiata, notes about the death of Tutepakihirangi
Also contains notes about Tamatea and the migration of the Takitimu canoe, information about the peace-making between Wairarapa and Te Ati Awa in the 1830s; a copy of a draft petition to Sir James Carroll calling for an end to the purchase of Maori land, a copy of a speech of welcome to Sir James Carroll and other politicians at the unveiling of the Tamahau Mahupuku monument and a copy of a speech by Te Whatahorro to a hui at Papawai, criticising Whenua Manihera and discussing the administration of Pouakani
