Two scenes in which a middle-aged New Zealand man is reading a newspaper. In the first he reacts to the news story about the number of Allied Forces' ships sunk in the war with "H'm, very sad". In the second a story about a ship sunk 'off N.Z. coast' has him leaping from his chair exclaiming "Heavens! Can't somebody do SOMETHING?"
