Description

Two base maps on one sheet, slightly overlapping, of rural lands for selection on the optional system. The largest map is of the area from the Whaingaroa Harbour, now known as Raglan Harbour, northwards. This cadastral map has numbered sections, some coloured, and include acreages, owners' names and dates handwritten in each section. Map 2 is comprised of two sections, numbered 3 and 4, including acreages of the area adjacent to the Tawarau Stream and Mangarere Road. Includes two owners' names and one date is recorded. School and creamery sites and a quarry are marked. The Raglan Mangati Road and the Ruakiwi Road are named.

The base maps are of sections in the Kawhia South and Whaingaroa Survey Districts. Kawhia South Survey District is numbered 2, and is of Sections 3 and 4, Block XV. Sections marked with red are either first or second class land and are referred to in a key. Both maps include directions to nearby settlements, some with mileages, and the vegetation and terrain are named. A schedule of these districts include the section number, acreage, value and rent. Instructions to applicants and a caution follow the with the printed name of H.M. Skeet, Commissioner of Crown Lands. Includes an abstract of conditions of lease. A statement on the left side of the map begins '5483 acres 1 rood 12 perches'. Includes the application date of 25 March 1913 at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland.

The inset map is a locality plan of the area from the Bay of Islands to New Plymouth.
