Damage to Nelson College caused by the Murchison earthquake. Stonework from the tower has fallen onto a field below, causing damage to the building's roof and steps. A group of boys are standing in the foreground. Photographed circa 17 June 1929 by Frederick Nelson Jones.

The building was built in 1906 after the original wooden building was destroyed by fire in 1904. It was replaced in 1941 with the present building.
