They are looking alarmed as the mat is disappearing from underneath them while at the same time a huge boot, 'imports', is hovering over them. Refers to the Labour government's decision to reduce import tariffs on footwear, clothing and textiles and Labour's ceasing to identify with their traditional working class supporters.
