Description

The bandstand was described as `an elegant construction based on an octagonal plan with a scalloped roof topped by a fashionable "onion" dome, painted floral frieze and trellis cornice'. People are seated on the park benches which surround the bandstand. The newly planted trees can be seen near the benches. Photographed by William A Price ca 1908-1910

The bandstand was designed by James Slator and erected ca 1905-1906. Admiral Sperry and other officers of the United States Navy planted oak trees around the bandstand in Aug 1908. [Source: Albert Park conservation plan, 1997]
