Shows a memorial in the shape of a cross, standing on a grassed area beside a bridge over a river. There are two-storeyed buildings, probably houses, on the far bank.
Cardinal Desire Joseph Mercia met the artist, probably near Tamines in about 1919.
The massacre at Tamines happened in 1914. Verso of page [ie Page 16] gives details: "Le 22 aout 1914 eut lieu sur cette place Massacre de la population de Tamines par les troupes allemande [sic], 350 hommes de tout age perdent, 83 blesses". See record at E-919-016 for translation
