Shows a male banded dotterel in the foreground and a female in the right background. Both are standing on a seashore.

This is a lithograph from "The birds of Australia", by Gregory Macalister Mathews, volume 3, plate 134, opposite page 86.

This species is also known in Australia as a double-banded plover, and in New Zealand as a banded dotterel.
