The ambulance was presented to the Wellington free Ambulance by the Wellington Free Ambulance Ladies' Auxillary. The Auxillary wished to name the ambulance after the couple to commemorate Mrs Martin's 10 years as president, and the support and generosity of her husband, executive chairman of L F Martin and Son.
